Mike Renzoni: saxophones, vocals, percussion
Mike,
a Buffalo native, started playing saxophone for a brief stint in his
freshman year of high school. He picked it up again in his
college years and has not put it down since. Sure, this makes
simple chores like picking up groceries and driving a car a little
challenging but Mike feels that it’s worth the trouble.
Mike moved to Vermont
after college, honed his skills, and played in several local bands
covering a wide range of musical genres including Classic Rock,
New Orleans Jazz, ‘80’s Pop, Funk, R&B, Alternative Rock, and Blues.
Mike’s
influences are as varied as the colors of Cyndi Lauper’s
hair. He grew up with ‘80’s pop, Classic Rock, and
Hard Rock as his favorites. Though a saxophone player, he did not
listen to a lot of saxophone players until later in life preferring
instead to imitate the lead vocal tracks of popular music on his
saxophone. His two favorite saxophone players are David Sanbourn
and Junior Walker.
Mike moved back to
Buffalo with his wife about three years ago and joined
Singer/Songwriter Matt Surowiec’s band “The
Works”. He later joined the jam-band “Snuka”
and later The Carl Motyka Band.
